Is it really today!?
As a kid I always imagined the sun as the planet eater (like Galactus in Marvel) My thought runs exactly opposite to the Big Bang Theory. Instead of a big explosion that scatters debris outwards before turning into planets, mine is - the sun acts like a drain, pulling all the planets in, sucking it out of existence. Maybe that is why all the planets revolve around the sun 'cause they are being pulled by it like a vortex. Maybe this explains why temperature each year gets hotter because we are getting closer to the sun?!
The Hubble Space Telescope has captured evidence of a Sun-like star “eating” a nearby planet.

Well, since Mercury is the nearest to it, we still have a long way before getting fried.
My thoughts: not the end of the world today ;) some other day maybe but not today!!
BTW, It's already May 21, 2011 here in Manila :D
