Secret Fresh Presents Epjey Pacheco + Dave Lock + Iya Consorio
I am also excited to go to this show today!
6pm at Secret Fresh Gallery A, RONAC Art Center, Ortigas Avenue, Greenhills, San Juan
Three individual openings by Epjey Pacheco, Dave Lock and Iya Consorio.
Epjey Pacheco's new series of works in an exhibit titled "BuildxSleepxDestroy" deals with his very labor intensive process that produces intricately detailed works that ruminates on the surfeit of surface doodling now incorporating paper cut outs and finally nuanced by the addition of spray paint stains in an inclination to destroy them as a diametric dynamic of its very creation.
Dave Lock presents us permutations of neurosis that begs more than Rorschach readings on the psyche of contemporary man as the artist pondering on being, evolution and theosophy. He'll be rounding out this series with a new set of prints and a mannequin bust fleshed out as one of his tormented contorted figure from his distinctive lexicon of expressive anatomia.
Iya Consorio's ink drawings richly weaves personas, encounters and symbols in a series of " portrait tapestries" mined from the tradition of Japanese prints in creating such pulpy stratas of reading from a work that begets rather epic interpretation, with each portrait being a novella of its own.
All three exhibits will be on view until September 11, 2012. - via LC

"SECRETS, DREAMS and WHAT-IFS" | Genepaul Martin + Tawnie Tantay + Jj Zamoranos
It's today!
Congratulations guys!! See you all later!
"SECRETS, DREAMS and WHAT-IFS" a 3-man-show featuring the works of very talented young artists - Genepaul Martin, Tawnie Tantay and Jj Zamoranos.
August 19, 2012 | 6pm | Secret Fresh Gallery B, RONAC Art Center
Secrets, Dreams, and What If’s is a three-man show
revolving around the imagination and the unconscious brought about by odd
juxtapositions and dis/orders in everyday life. The artists attempt to
illustrate a child’s vision hence the playful, bright, comical, cartoonish appearances.
These images though do not render mere fun at all, but a rather light satire of
society.
Genepaul Martin leads us to a hodgepodge of characters
from our childhood – Ultraman and Alice (in Wonderland). It may look sweet,
resembling Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory – colorful candies, donuts, gummies
and other melted sweets. The characters, however, have a sad look upon their
faces – Ultraman without his horn, cut, decapitated, devastated, Alice sitting
on donuts, carrying a teacup yet with no one to share some afternoon tea.
Tawnie Tantay’s characters are reminiscent of dolls –
bright eyes, flushed cheeks, tinted lips, pretty dresses. Just the way society
wants its women to be. At an early age, little girls are aligned towards the
epitome of a desirable female. The artist begs to look at the dolls’ faces, but
viewers still tend to take more pleasure in staring at the body and its
surroundings, hauling a more judgmental look at women, formulating a sexual
connotation rather than an innocent interpretation.
JJ Zamoranos routed viewers to a seemingly unfamiliar dimension, or maybe actually a familiar one. He displays a colorful yet uncanny group of characters in between lego blocks, masks, toys, and dark castles representing perhaps how figures from television register in a child’s mind – a chaotic combination of childhood’s innocence, smothered with adulthood’s harsh realities.
Secrets, Dreams, and What If’s is a reaffirmation of
Roland Barthes’ Toys (in Mythologies). This reflects, reiterates, and
reinstates how society purposely yet unknowingly molds children into the harsh
world of adulthood. This presents us once again what society has initially
presented us in childhood – left unspoken and unquestioned.
After this trip back to childhood, how then are you going
to see things?

UNGGA
Portraits of modern urban society, mostly awesome friends and people who rock. Funny people who inspire and make me and everyone around them happy. My artworks are mostly people from different parts of the world with the same characteristics as Filipinos, basically “crazy” people. The colors I used to make the artworks represent the subjects the way I view them in reality, mostly with a hearty laugh. A healthy sense of humor. (Karl Gustav)

A Benefit Exhibit for the Artist Lirio Salvador
Dear friends and colleagues,
Many of us have heard of the tragedy that have befallen our dear friend and esteemed colleague Lirio Salvador, and that has gotten us to think how we can help. That is why we at Secret Fresh is allotting the month of February for a fundraising exhibit for the accumulating medical expenses since he was first interred at La Salle UMC.
Hence, we’re enjoining you if you can submit a work of any medium that can be sold quickly and pledge to waiver 100% of the sales for Lirio Salvador. The fundraising exhibit dubbed, Sandatahang Lakas para Kay Lirio would be on view for 2 weeks from February 5. You may start submitting works for the fundraising exhibit as early as third week of January.
You may coordinate with Lena, Heidi or A.lien for details and further queries about this project here on u FB or thru email at secretfresh.info@gmail.com
We’d appreciate so much what ever it is that you may contribute for this cause as we’d all want to see Lirio play again for us and for the whole world. We don’t want him to miss the great opportunities that still await him.
Many many thanks,
Secret Fresh
PS. please share to those who want to help as well

Dia De Los Muertos Exhibit | Secret Fresh
Secret Fresh Gallery presents: Dia De Los Muertos Exhibit
Their persistence in being represented in the arts or in every platform of representation in our visual culture seem symptomatic of our fascination for and for our grasping for our fleeting mortality, hence being more than symbols of death, skulls also signify the preciousness of life that we all have to hold on to as dear and celebrate it for the fullness achieved in living it. Of this existentialist exercise of pondering upon the calcic armature that supports the drapery of flesh and tissue which has been made as a yearly ritual/feast , does it ere yonder reveal our precarious hold on our mortality? We celebrate, we gorge on the deluge of tenuous emotions of sorrow and merriment, but tis the vanity or is it not we just prolong the eventuality of our inescapable end. The themes we like to portray in the pictures we like to hang on our walls seem to bespeak of such. We ponder and wonder but it’s both a miracle and an abomination. Alas, these are portraits of our very frail shells. We fill them up instead with the spirit of infinite jest. A hundred cast resin skulls lined up on a shelf each customized by various artists as diverse as their age, cosmological outlook and style flesh out this philosophical point aside from the numerous drawings, paintings, prints and other sculptural works to complement the aforementioned custom skulls.
The show’s title takes off from the more festive Mexican version of our own Todos Los Santos (which is mistranslated in the vernacular as Araw ng mga Patay or as Undas).
The participating artists are : A.lien,Albert Sy, Alvin Capistrano,Alvin Zafra, Archie Geotina, Argie Bandoy, Arnold Austria, Beejay esber, Bembol dela Cruz, Bjorn calleja, Carina Santos, Chati Coronel, Christian Tamondong, Clint Catalan, Cos Zicarelli, Dave Lock, Deejae Paeste, Garapata Boy, Dexter Sy, Don Dalmacio, Edric Go, Epjey Pacheco, Frederick Sausa, Chill, Ferdz Valencia, Gail Vicente, Gani Simpliciano Genepol Martin, Gino Javier, Goldie Poblador, Heidi Franco, Hepe, Ian Jaucian, Igan D’Bayan, Ino Caluza, Jacob Lindo, Jason Tecson, Jayson Oliveria, Jed Escueta, JJ Zamoranos, Joey Cobcobo, Joseph Tecson, Jigger Cruz, JP Tria, Kat Medina, Kiko escora, Lea Lim, Luis Santos, Marc Gaba, Mark Salvatus, Marija Vicente, Marvin Tojos, Mica Cabildo, Mike Crisostomo, Nemo aguila, Rain Dial, Rolf Campos, Sam Kiyoumarsi, Tanya Villanueva, Tawnie Tantay, Tin Garcia, Tripp, Ungga, Vermont Coronel, Veronica Peralejo, Whoop, Yason Banal, and Zeus Bascon.
