Broom Chair | Philippe Starck x Emeco

Philippe Starck and Emeco have teamed up again to create a new "green" chair - The new Broom Chair, made of 75% Reclaimed Polypropylene, 15% Reclaimed wood fiber and 10% glass fiber.

 Imagine”, says Philippe Starck, “a guy who takes a humble broom and starts to clean the workshop and with this dust he makes new magic”. That’s why we call it Broom chair. 

The chair is made from industrial waste plastic and reclaimed wood from lumber factories that would normally be swept into the trash.

BANG! | bitplay

BANG! by bitplay is a desk lamp with a gun-shaped remote controller. User can fire the “gun” to turn the light off. The light goes out and the lampshade knocks to the side, showing that it’s been hit. To turn it back on, simply shoot it again, and the lampshade will raise up slowly and turn the light back on at the same time.

Herman Miller “Eames Lounge Chair & Ottoman” | Limited 2011 Asia Edition

Herman Miller has released a new limited Asia edition of the iconic Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman.

limited to 100 pieces, the Asian version features black plywood framing and black premium leather.

Limited Edition Eames Chair | Bally x Herman Miller

As part of their 160th anniversary, luxury brand Bally collaborated with Herman Miller in producing a limited edition Eames chair.

The clean and simple form of the classic chair is accentuated with the twin stripes, the traditional Bally branding and a Bally logo metal plate.

I would love to have one for my office!

 

The chair also reminds me of Herbie the love bug :)

The Garlic Card

Invented by Herman Rasmuson and designed by Lisa Flodin - The Garlic Card is a wallet sized garlic grater made of plastic embossed with alternating letter Gs and Cs.

Swedish chef Herman Rasmuson one day took out a credit card and began rubbing a clove of garlic against the embossed lettering. Voila! In almost no time, he had turned the clove into a uniform paste. Then, fortuitously, he decided to wash the card (not wanting to fragrance his wallet with a permanent garlic aroma), and was amazed how easily the card cleaned with just a warm-water rinsing. From there, the concept for GarlicCard was born.

I first saw these cards in Sibler and thought they wer Pantone swatches ;)

Plopp Stool | HAY

Designed by Oskar Zieta in 2008 for Danish company Hay - The Plopp Stool is made of welded sheets of steel and inflated like a balloon by using high-pressure air. The idea is to make a light construction which is easily mass produced.

Every single piece of The Plopp Stool is a one of a kind sculpture.

I got myself a miniature version of Philippe Starck's Juicy Salif lemon squeezer.

The original Juicy Salif was designed by Philippe Starck in 1990 and is probably one of the most instantly recognizable pieces ever to come out of Alessi.
